Four brave members from across The Bennie Group have teamed up to take part in the 2013 Rutland Plod.
A tough test of stamina and comradeship, ‘The Plod’ will see Andy Burder (Barton), Robert Jackson (Peter Bennie), & Tom Benjamin (The Bennie Group) take part in a gruelling 40 mile night time walk around the picturesque county of Rutland. This intrepid quartet will be joined by Support Driver Pete Tye (Barton).
Whilst also being a good teambuilding exercise, the primary focus of ‘The Plod’ is to raise money for Action Medical Research. This is a very worthwhile charity that raises money for research into childhood diseases and medical conditions. Further information on Action Medical Research can be found on their website www.action.org.uk
Support Driver Pete Tye, in his usual modest style says: “Walking 40 miles is the simple part. The challenging part is trying to manage, motivate & support a disorderly rabble, whilst also moulding them into a fine yomping unit”.
Tom Benjamin is embarking on a new experience as a fundraiser, although this won’t be the only event Tom takes part in this year. In October he will be running a half marathon in aid of Alzheimers research.
Tom says: “This is the first charity event that I’ve taken part in. I’ve been wanting to do something worthwhile like this for a long time, although I’m not sure that a 40 mile overnight walk is the ideal icebreaker”.
You can of course visit their fundraising page, to pledge & also find out more about ‘The Plod’ at
All contributions will be greatly received, so Pete, Andy, Robert & Tom would like to thank you all in advance for digging deep for this very worthy cause.
